Staff Changes at the Supreme Council The Supreme Council is pleased to announce that Ms. Barbara Golden of our Development Office has accepted a position as General Counsel of the Supreme Council and in that capacity will be responsible for in-house legal matters of the Council as well as general supervision of all legal issues involving the Council. This position will be adjunct to and a part of the office of the Sovereign Grand Commander. Ms. Golden is an attorney and is quite knowledgeable in non-profit matters and legal issues relating to Development and fund-raising matters. As such, she will likewise be available to consult with you on issues that might arise in your Orient or Valley. Due to Barbara’s previous experience in development and fund-raising, she will continue to consult with the Development Department as an Advisor to the Supreme Council’s capital campaign for the preservation and restoration of the House of the Temple. We wish Barbara well and look forward to her continued activity for Scottish Rite in this expanded role. Additionally, we are pleased to welcome back to our staff as Director of Development, Ill. Earl E. Ihle, Jr., 33°, GC. Earl is a longtime Scottish Rite Mason and is a dual member of the Valley of Baltimore, Maryland and the Valley of Washington, District of Columbia. A former member of the staff, Earl pursued other interests for several years including non-profit work for the Washington Redskins organization. We are excited as Earl returns as a member of the team here in Washington. As with Barbara, he will be available to consult with you on Orient/Valley fund-raising opportunities. Meanwhile, Matt Szramoski, 32°, KCCH, will continue in his role as Associate Director of Development and will be available to respond to your inquiries on development opportunities at the Supreme Council and Orient/Valley levels. The Intendant of the Building Society The Intendant of the Building Society honors those brethren and other individuals who strongly believe in the purposes of the Scottish Rite, and who, through their generosity, help us to pass the principles of Freemasonry on to future generations. Membership is awarded to individuals who have included the Scottish Rite Foundation, Southern Jurisdiction, USA, Inc., the House of the Temple Historic Preservation Foundation, Inc., or their local Scottish Rite Foundation in their wills, trust, IRAs, pensions, or annuities. Through a legacy gift, you have the opportunity to support the Scottish Rite’s charitable missions. By including the Scottish Rite’s charities in your estate plans, you join a group of distinguished individuals who serve as role models to future generations — you become an Intendant of the Building. All you need to do is notify us that you have made a legacy gift to a Scottish Rite charity in your will or living trust, a charitable remainder trust, a charitable gift annuity, pooled income fund, transfer on death account, life insurance policy or retirement plan (IRA, 401(k), etc.). When you notify us, we will recognize you as a member of this elite group of donors — Intendants of the Building — entitled to the special privileges of Society members. We will also honor requests for anonymity or to name a legacy gift in honor of a loved one.
Society members will receive a certificate, a lapel pin, and their choice of a neck-tie or scarf.
